Google Map Now adds Weather Forecasts

Google Map Now adds Weather Forecasts

In order to activate the ‘weather layer’ you need to select ‘weather’ from the drop down in the top right hand corner of the maps.

Google will only show the weather when you are zoomed out, this way it can display images of clouds, rain, the sun etc. for all major towns in the view. The forecasts come from weather.com and the cloud coverage, which is denoted by the white layer over the map, is provided by the U.S. Naval Research Lab.

For a more detailed forecast you can click on the weather icon for any city and see the temperature, humidity and wind for the next four days. Clicking on the ‘Hourly’ and ’10 Day’ links will open up the full weather.com forecast in a new tab. You can also tell if it's currently day or night in places by sun and moon icons.
